Harry Styles fans were thrilled in New York City when they heard for the first time his new single “Aperture” from his upcoming album “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,” in an exclusive pre-release listen that turned into an emotional experience for hundreds of people who waited for hours at Rockefeller Center.
The atmosphere at Rough Trade Records in New York was electric. Harry Styles, who has become one of the most influential names in modern pop, moved his fans to tears from the first seconds of “Aperture.” Lindsey, 20, described the moment as she heard his voice and began to cry with emotion, as fans had been waiting years for their favorite artist to return.

More than 300 of his music fans, dressed in pink scarves and holding vinyl records, waited for over four hours in the cold to be the first to hear the new song. The single, which officially releases on January 22, was simultaneously performed in select cities around the world – from Sydney and Tokyo, to Berlin and London – creating a global musical community around Styles.
Some fans compared “Aperture” to songs by Lorde and Billie Eilish, while others felt it was reminiscent of his own “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” era. The range of opinions shows just how multifaceted his new musical journey is. Sabine, 24, said he went into the audition with no expectations, precisely because “everyone on Twitter was saying different things.” As he pointed out, the result was completely unexpected — which makes Styles’ new era all the more exciting.
The energy in the space was almost ritualistic. Participants put on headphones, looked at each other with teary eyes, and began to dance, unable to contain their emotions. “It’s okay to cry in the club,” said one fan, smiling as she wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her coat.

Cell phones and recording devices were banned, so reactions online were limited to personal memories and impressions. Some tried to hum the melody to remember it, while others simply said it would stay in their minds for a long time.
“Aperture” seemed to blend disco, techno and club elements, but with Styles’ signature emotional touch. KJ, 25, who quit his job to attend the event, said he felt like he was hearing something completely different — “a fusion of Jersey club beat and pop soul.” Harry seems to be exploring new sounds, as he did on “Harry’s House,” which won him a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2023.
Many fans, like Lindsey and Sabine, have followed Harry since his One Direction days and see his artistic evolution as a unique experience. They believe he matures without losing his freshness, while not shying away from experimenting, as legends like David Bowie did. For them, each new song is part of an emotional journey.

After the end of the Love on Tour in the summer of 2023, Harry retired from the spotlight, thanking his fans in a touching message on Instagram: "They gave me memories that I will cherish forever." Since then, he has mainly communicated with his audience through cryptic messages and posters on the streets.
A few days ago, a poster in New York read “See you very soon,” while in Brazil the message was “A Gente Se Vê Em Breve” — “See you soon.” In any case, all the teasers shared one phrase: “We belong together.” A phrase that for his fans means much more than a slogan: it is a reminder of the deep connection between the artist and his audience.
“Aperture” isn’t just a new song; it’s the opening of a new chapter for Styles. After four years of waiting, fans are feeling like their favorite artist is back, more mature, bolder, and more creative than ever. As one fan said as she left the listening event, “You don’t have to see him to feel his magic. You carry his voice inside you.”
