A teaser that hides impressive participations, music by AG Cook and an atmosphere full of promise — Charli XCX returns with “The Moment”
Η Charli XCX is back with a bang, this time not only with music but also with a cinematic proposal that has already caused a huge debate. Her new project titled “The Moment”, produced by A24, was revealed through a fresh teaser that caused a frenzy on social media. The video, which was released on October 9, bears the signature of Charli XCX herself, as the idea is based on her own concept, while the music has been curated by her long-time collaborator AG Cook.
“The Moment” tells the story of a rising pop star trying to balance fame and the pressures of the industry, just before her first arena tour. Charli is not only the protagonist, but also the core of the creation, giving the film an authentic look into the world of music and fame.

The teaser also revealed the rest of the cast, which combines unexpected faces from fashion and cinema. Kylie Jenner and Rachel Sennett participate in roles that have already sparked discussions, while the cast also includes Rish Shah from “Ms. Marvel”, Isaac Cole Powell, known from HBO, Kate Berlant, and Jamie Demetriou from “Stath Lets Flats”. Among those already announced are Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette and Trew Mullen, giving the creation an even more dynamic mix.
On Instagram, director and co-writer Aidan Zamiri humorously commented under the teaser: “Just checking — a movie is just a really long video, right? Or is it like a blog post with pictures?” This line reinforced the rumor that “The Moment” would have an unconventional structure, something between an art film and a music video, true to the avant-pop spirit of Charli XCX.
The music heard in the teaser is a remix of Icona Pop's "I Don't Care," which Charli XCX featured on in 2012 — a little throwback to the roots of her pop career, but also a clever connection to today.

“Brat,” her latest album, was a turning point in modern pop culture, even spawning the term “Brat summer” that swept social media and even Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Although Charli said in August that she had closed that chapter, she continues to draw inspiration from that period. She recently released a fifth studio clip with dark, almost horror elements, hinting at a completely different sound for her new work.
Producer Finn Keane, also known as Easyfun, confirmed in an interview that Charli is already working on a new album that is “very different and fresh.” In fact, he stated that they are deep into the creative process and that the result will surprise even her most loyal fans. Charli herself has admitted that her next album could even be considered a “flop,” but she is completely comfortable with that prospect, emphasizing that she prefers artistic development over commercial security.
Since the beginning of the year, AG Cook, Finn Keane, and George Daniel —Charli's husband— had already hinted that her new project would be "anti-Brat," completely opposite to anything we've seen so far. The music would be more experimental, less club-oriented, and more emotional, which fits with her artistic maturity.
“Brat” was awarded Album of the Year by NME and received rave reviews for its combination of introspection and confidence. The remix album “Brat and it's completely different but also still brat” demonstrated her creative brilliance, with the press calling it “an artistic home run”.

Beyond music, Charli XCX has increasingly begun to explore the world of cinema. She is participating in the film “100 Nights Of Hero”, based on the graphic novel by Isabel Greenberg, as well as in the adventure “Sacrifice” alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans. In addition, she will be seen in Pete Ohs’ “Erupcja” and in the upcoming erotic thriller “I Want Your Sex” alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman. Her presence on the big screen seems to reinforce her transition from pop icon to multi-dimensional artist with a cinematic identity.
Meanwhile, in the world of rumors, it seems that Taylor Swift's new song "Actually Romantic" may be a "diss track" aimed at Charli XCX. Although neither side has officially commented, fan accounts have already been abuzz with theories, analyzing lyrics and connections. It wouldn't be the first time that two major pop figures have been embroiled in a musical "drama" that keeps the public's interest undiminished.
With “The Moment,” Charli XCX shows that she’s ready to write a new chapter in her career, this time through the lens of the big screen. Her collaboration with A24, creators who often push the boundaries of mainstream cinema, heralds something bold, subversive, and utterly contemporary — just like her.
