'Yukon' brings Justin Bieber back to the top, marking his big return to radio hits
Justin Bieber proves once again that he remains one of the most powerful pop superstars of his generation. After three years without a radio No. 1, the Canadian singer returns with a bang with “Yukon,” which managed to top Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, bringing his name back to the biggest music headlines.
The success of “Yukon” marks Bieber’s sixth time at number one on the chart, proving that despite his silences and distancing from the stage, his music continues to dominate radio. The song, which is included in his recent album titled Swag, played non-stop on stations in the US, recording the most frequent radio broadcast in the week of August 29 to September 4.

His last No. 1 radio hit came in 2022 with “Ghost,” which then climbed both the Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay charts. Since then, many have wondered if Bieber could regain his place among radio’s top hitmakers. And “Yukon” was the answer.
The track, released via JRC/ILH/Def Jam/Republic, climbed from No. 5 to the top spot, though it didn’t actually see a significant increase in radio airplay. Its rise was largely due to the general declines in its competitors. For example, Drake’s “What Did I Miss?”, which was at No. 1 the previous week, fell to No. 3. Chris Brown’s “Holy Blindfold” fell from No. 2 to No. 5, while Leon Thomas’ “Mutt” dropped to No. 4. At the same time, BigXthaPlug’s “All the Way” featuring Bailey Zimmerman climbed to No. 2, though it also saw a drop in airplay.

So, through the… chaos of the charts, “Yukon” finally emerged as the winner and gave Bieber another top distinction. It is noteworthy that this is his sixth No. 1 on Rhythmic Airplay, after big hits such as “As Long as You Love Me” with Big Sean, “Sorry”, “I'm the One” with DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, “No Brainer” also with DJ Khaled, and of course “Peaches” with Daniel Caesar and GIVĒON.
In short, the trajectory of “Yukon” shows that Bieber hasn’t lost his ability to create songs that become instant hits. Despite the doubts that have plagued his career in recent years, with various periods of absence and personal difficulties, his music continues to have a huge impact on the public.

It’s worth noting that “Yukon” isn’t just limited to Rhythmic Airplay. The song also entered the Top 20 of the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, jumping from No. 23 to No. 19, while it also climbed the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart from No. 22 to No. 21, reaching 3.7 million listeners. At the same time, it improved its position on the Radio Songs chart, from No. 47 to No. 41, garnering 13.5 million total listeners across all radio formats.
This shows that “Yukon” is not just a hit that came and went quickly, but a success that is gradually spreading and conquering more and more formats. Its radio run proves that the audience is embracing it day by day, and that Bieber is back in the music game for good.
Bieber's return with "Yukon" comes at a time when the music industry is filled with new competitors. Drake remains one of the biggest names in the genre, Chris Brown is still making his mark, and artists like Leon Thomas and BigXthaPlug are gaining more and more attention. But the fact that Bieber manages to stand out among this plethora of songs shows his special weight.
Moreover, this new success also gives wings to his fans, who have been waiting for a long time to see him back on top. Beliebers filled social media with messages of excitement, uploading hashtags and memes praising “Yukon”. For them, this song is not just another radio hit, but proof that their favorite artist is back stronger than ever.
And of course, the trajectory of “Yukon” sets the stage for what will follow. With the new album Swag to be released and with interest around his name rekindled, everything indicates that Bieber is entering a new phase of his career. A phase where he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, but simply does what he does best: create music that strikes a chord with the audience.
