Spotify and ChatGPT are teaming up to radically change the way we listen to music. With the power of artificial intelligence, the listening experience becomes more personal and human, with recommendations tailored to each user's preferences
Music is now getting a voice through artificial intelligence. Spotify has announced a partnership with OpenAI’s ChatGPT that is completely changing the way we discover songs and podcasts. Users can connect their accounts and ask for recommendations through natural conversation, creating a listening experience that feels like it was made just for them.

This new feature is available to all Spotify Free and Premium users starting October 6. Instead of endlessly searching through playlists, all you have to do is type into ChatGPT something like “Find me some music for my morning run” or “What podcasts do you recommend for tech?” Within seconds, artificial intelligence understands your mood and creates suggestions tailored to your taste and the moment.
His collaboration Spotify with ChatGPT does not mean that the platform's content is shared with OpenAI. The connection is optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time. User data remains secure and is not used for model training. ChatGPT's role is purely auxiliary, offering more natural and accurate music and podcast recommendations based on each listener's personal preferences.
The integration of ChatGPT is the latest step in Spotify’s strategy to combine technology and entertainment. Following partnerships with Alexa, Google Home, Samsung, Sonos and Volvo, Spotify is bringing artificial intelligence directly to the heart of its experience. Now, users don’t have to search through endless playlists; they just speak to ChatGPT and describe what they want to hear.
The feature is already live in English in 145 countries, both on web and mobile. Early reactions show that users are enjoying the sense of immediacy that artificial intelligence offers. Spotify explains that the partnership with ChatGPT does not replace the recommendation algorithms, but rather enhances them. Now, listeners can say “I want something relaxing for the evening” or “music to concentrate on” and get exactly the result they expect, without endless scrolling.

The announcement comes shortly after Spotify unveiled new policies on the use of artificial intelligence in music. The company made it clear that it wants to protect artists from misuse of AI tools, such as fake voices or spam productions, without hindering their creative use. Spotify's head of music, Charlie Hellman, said: "We're not here to punish those who use AI responsibly. We want to give them the freedom to create more inspiring music."
The addition of ChatGPT demonstrates the philosophy behind the platform. Spotify doesn’t aim to replace human curation, but to complement it. With ChatGPT, music becomes a more personal and “human” experience. Anyone can chat with Spotify’s assistant and find sounds that reflect their mood. Whether you want energy, focus, or calm, artificial intelligence can create the ideal musical context.
Sten Garmark, Spotify’s head of user experience, explained that “Spotify wants to be everywhere you are — and now it can understand you better than ever.” He added that this partnership “brings listeners closer to the creators they love, through a more natural and live communication.”
Universal Music Group also welcomed the move, noting that such technological partnerships strengthen the connection between artists and audiences. As a spokesperson for Universal Music Group said, “fans can now go from discovery to enjoyment within an ecosystem that ensures fair compensation for all.”
