Lenny Kravitz becomes James Bond villain in new video game “007: First Light”

Notification

Lenny Kravitz is entering a new era, briefly leaving behind the guitar and the stage lights to become the most charismatic James Bond villain in the upcoming video game 007: First LightThe rock star embodies an unpredictable and magnetic adversary, in a production that promises cinematic action and subversive energy.

Lenny Kravitz is in one of the most creative phases of his life. After decades in the music scene, the multi-talented artist has decided to try something completely different, taking on the role of a "villain" for the first time in the new video game of the legendary James Bond franchise. The title 007: First Light was officially presented at the Game Awards 2025 and has already gained huge interest.

The famous musician, who has made his mark on the international scene with hits such as “Fly Away” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way”, this time embodies a character that is far from his usual image. Lenny Kravitz plays Bawma, a powerful and unpredictable criminal who pulls the strings of the black market in the Western Hemisphere. His character is presented as a man of influence, power and a magnetic personality that makes him both dangerous and irresistible.

He has stated that Bawma is not just a cold-blooded villain, but a man who fought to create his own empire, the so-called “Kingdom of Aleph.” He is a figure who walks the line between power and humanity, which makes the role even more exciting for Lenny Kravitz.

The 007: First Light is a third-person action-adventure game that will be released in 2026. The story follows a young James Bond, aged 26, in the early stages of his career. The role of the young agent is played by Patrick Gibson, known from the series Dexter: Original Sin, who gives a more human, raw dimension to the famous hero.

The game's first trailer, which premiered on stage at the Game Awards, revealed some impressive action footage, with Lenny Kravitz appearing as Bond's main antagonist. In this cinematic take, Bawma rules a global criminal organization that threatens to tip the balance and force Bond to face the most dangerous mission of his life.

Kravitz has said that joining the Bond universe was an experience that combined his love of music with acting. The role, he explained, allowed him to express a darker, more multi-dimensional side of himself. At the same time, he emphasized that participating in a story with such a great legacy was both an honor and a challenge.

The game 007: First Light is a creation of the company IO Interactive, which became known for the series HitmanWith experience in creating games that combine action, narrative intensity and cinematic aesthetics, the company promises that this new addition to the Bond universe will offer an experience that will be more reminiscent of a film than a simple video game.

The game's production also includes a strong cast. Joining Lenny Kravitz and Patrick Gibson will be Gemma Chan, Priyanga Burford, Kiera Lester, Alastair Mackenzie, Lennie James, and Noemie Nakai. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Lenny Kravitz is no stranger to acting. Many remember him from his roles in the films The Hunger Games, where he played Cinna, a character with a unique aesthetic and a key role in the story of Katniss Everdeen. Recently, he also appeared in the comedy The Trainer (2024), in a self-deprecating role that demonstrated how comfortably he moves between music and cinema.

His participation in 007: First Light seems to be the natural continuation of a path that combines creativity, style and stage presence. Known for his distinctive voice and unique look, he gives a new dimension to the term “cool villain”, embodying an adversary who is both dangerous and exciting.

Its official website Lenny Kravitz reports that the artist is also preparing new music for 2026, which makes his next year particularly busy. His presence in the Bond universe may also be accompanied by his participation in the soundtrack, something his fans are strongly hoping for.

Although the game's release date has not been officially announced, fans of the series are eagerly awaiting more news. The participation of such a recognizable artist breathes new life into the franchise and adds a dose of rock energy to the world of 007.

Lenny Kravitz's performance at the 2025 Game Awards was one of the most talked-about moments of the night. With his signature style and confidence, he proved once again that he can dominate any scene — whether he's holding a microphone or playing a dangerous criminal.

The 007: First Light promises to completely revamp the James Bond franchise, introducing a younger, more vulnerable and human hero, and an unforgettable adversary. With Lenny Kravitz reprising his role as Bawma, the adventure takes on a new, unpredictable dimension that is sure to impress gamers and moviegoers alike.
