The Edgar Daniel, on the other hand, chose a more meta approach: it organized a casting call and showed women auditioning for how they would appear in the song's video.
The variety of ideas demonstrates how wide the creative spectrum can be when new talent is given the opportunity to express itself. As Drake's website states: "Our finalists represent different levels of experience, with several being complete first-time filmmakers. We wanted to give new directors the opportunity to showcase their potential."

The idea started in May, when Kai Cenat commented that he would like to see his video. "Nokia" to go in a different direction. This gave rise to the collaboration with Drake, which evolved into the 19-video project. The winners were announced in June, while on August 27, all the videos were made available to the public.
